Reaching Rajasthan

How to Reach Rajasthan
Rajasthan is the desert jewel of India. The land of Rajasthan spread across the great Thar Desert and is the India's ambassador to the world of travel and tourism. Rajasthan is one of the major tourist destination in India and holds a key place in the map of India. The state of Rajasthan is well connected with other parts of the country and is well accessible by air, rail and road. Various places of tourist interest in Rajasthan are well

linked through air, rail and road with other places in the country. Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan is well connected to major metropolitan cities of India like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. It can be accessed by rail, road and air.

By Air
Jaipur is the main airport to enter Rajasthan. The Indian Airlines, Air India, Sahara and various other private airlines operate flights between Jaipur and Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Udaipur, Aurangabad, Jodhpur and various other cities cities in India. In Rajasthan the other major airports are in Udaipur and Jodhpur. In future the Jaipur airport will become an International airport like in the other metropolitan cities of India.

By Rail
Most of the Rajasthan is accessible by a network of rail services. Earlier travelling by train in Rajasthan used to be a slow process because much of the track was metre gauge and narrower than the broad gauge used in the rest of the country. But now, as part of the national 'uni gauge' drive, some of the lines have been covered and rest are expected to be upgraded in near future. The main pride of Rajasthan is the Palace on Wheels, the Royal Train.

Special Trains of Rajasthan

Palace on Wheels
The main pride of Rajasthan is the Palace on Wheels, the Royal Train. The Palace on Wheels is one of the most luxurious train in the world. The Palace on Wheels is an expensively decorated Edwardian style luxury steam train with 14 coaches. This special luxury train starts from Delhi and takes a round trip of Rajasthan, covering Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Agra. Each coach consists of a saloon, four sleeping compartments with upper and lower berth, bathroom, shower, toilet and small kitchen. There is a dining room, a bar and a fully equipped first-aid centre in the train. Some of the modern amenities in the train are air-conditioner, four-channel music and telephone intercom. Room service is available in the train. Seven days of unmatched hospitality and living life like a king in the Palace on Wheels is an amazing experience.

Royal Orient Express
The Royal Orient Express, the Royal Trian journeys through Gujarat and Rajasthan taking in the sights of Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Palitana, Sasangir, Ahmedabad and Jaipur. The trip takes eight days and accommodation is in furnished carriages with lounge, mini bar and kitchenette. Multi-cuisine restaurants and a library are also available.

By Road
The most interesting mode of travel in Rajasthan is by road. It offers the visitor an unending panorama of movement and colour. You can also hire a chauffeur driven car. In the car you will not only travel in comfort but also get an opportunity to have a glimpse of rural life and villages. The caravans of camels moving slowly across the yellow desert sands, the women dressed in the beautiful and colourful skirts carrying pots of water and the fortresses will always enchant any visitor. The road transport in Rajasthan is much better than in the other parts of India. Deluxe and air conditioned buses are operated by the Rajasthan Roadways and private operators between Jaipur, Delhi and other cities of Rajasthan and rest of India.

Others
The vast expanse of the desert poses a challenge to the spirit of adventure. In Rajasthan one can enjoy the camel safari tours, jeep safari tours and horse safari tours as well. In the Camel Safari Tours one will ride the desert kings and able to explore the deserts, the royal palaces, the mighty forts and temples of Rajasthan. In the horse safari tour, we will have the pleasure of riding on horses through trails dotted and marked with cenotaphs, villages, and ancient forts, etc.
