Bundi Attractions

The main tourist attraction in Bundi is the Taragarh Fort. This interesting fort is worth exploring for hours. The other attractions in Bundi are the Bundi Palace, Raniji ki Baori, Sukh Mahal and Chaurasi Khambon ki Chhatri.

 

Taragarh Fort
The main attraction in Bundi is the Taragarh or the Star Fort. The Taragarh Fort was built in 1354 AD. The fort is one of the most impressive forts of Rajasthan. This fort is perched on a thickly wooded hill with a huge reservoir which once supplied water to the palace. Taragarh Fort is reached by steep road leading up the hillside to its enormous gateway. out of solid rock, and the Bhim Burj, the largest of the battle fields, on which there is mounted a famous cannon. The view of the town and surrounding countryside from the top of the fort are magical, especially at sunset.

The Bundi Palace
Adjacent to the fort is a palce that is considered to be one of the finest example of Rajput architecture. Intricately carved bracket pillars and balconies and sculpted elephants offer enchanting spectacle to the tourists.

Sukh Mahal
Constructed during the reign of Umed Singh on the banks of Sukh Sagar it was a summer palace. The palace, which has hosted the famous English writer Rudyard Kipling, is now the government Irrigation Rest House.

 

Raniji ki Baori
A stepped well situated outside the old city walls, has high arched gate ornated with excellently carved pillars. The well has fifty steps and a depth of 46 meters.

Chaurasi Khambon ki Chhatri
A cenotaph with eighty four pillars is located south of the town. It was constructed in the year 1683 by Rao Anirudh Singh to honor the services of Deva, his wet nurse. The two
